"Bringing the Page to the Stage" WPN Power Lunch Featuring Speakers Rachel and Jorie Slodki  of the Women's Theatre Festival

Date: January 11, 2019
Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm/EST
Location: Gonza  Tacos y Tequila 525-105 New Waverly Place, Cary, NC 27518
Details: Fresh from The Women's Theatre Festival come Director Jorie Slodki and Producer Rachel Kasten ;who helped to bring the true story of The Radium Girls to the stage in the play, "These Shining Lives."  In the early twentieth century, young girls and women were enticed to find work painting watch faces, dials and military instruments with a mysterious glowing substance called radium.  Many became gravely ill and/or died as a result of ingesting the radium, and their court cases ultimately helped to improve working conditions for people across the world.  Jorie and Rachel will provide us with a fascinating look at history as well as the challenges and joys of bringing this important story to the stage.  You're sure to leave with a fresh perspective of the Radium Girls' story and how women in the theater inspire us to be bold and courageous every day.
