Sam Uhl is founder of The Cheerful Word, a company devoted to preserving the life stories of older adults in the form of heirloom, hard-bound books. Sam’s mission is to honor, encourage, and inspire seniors and their families by preserving the legacies of who we are as individuals and connecting us across the generations.
Sam’s success as a professional communicator is best illustrated by the great number of people she has encouraged through her writing and public speaking. Her genuine compassion and interest in others frees them to enthusiastically share memories that become their personal histories. Sam’s lifelong experience with the elderly imbues her with a tender nature allowing her to thoughtfully elicit the important stories of our lives.
Sam is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) with the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and is an engaging and in-demand speaker on topics such as marketing to seniors, seniors in business, and networking tips from The Greatest Generation.
Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Communication from the State University College at Buffalo and went on to co-own a public relations and technical writing firm in Buffalo, NY before moving to Durham, NC in 1991. Sam has consistently created solutions to communication problems for all types of organizations throughout the years. She is an active member of the Society for Certified Senior Advisors.
As she often says, “Every life is a story worth telling,” and Sam helps each of us write a legacy of cheerful words to encourage us today and inspire others tomorrow.
