Speakers Bureau Application Process

The Women's Power Networking Speakers Bureau

Application Process

The Speakers Bureau Committee works to provide opportunities for members to develop and practice their presentation skills in order to grow their self-confidence, communication skills and develop solid platforms to bring their expertise out into their community.

There are two ways to become a speaker. One is our Internal Speakers Bureau which offers you the opportunity to share a 10 minute presentation with your own and other Coffee and Contacts chapters.

The other is to be accepted as a member of our External Speakers Bureau. This is your opportunity to expand the audience for your presentations outside of the Women's Power Networking venues – and to take your show "on the road" at other community venues.

Internal Speakers Bureau (ISB):

The ISB is designed to assist members of Women's Power Networking (WPN) in developing their speaking, presentation & communication skills. If you are interested in being a part of the ISB and presenting to other Coffee & Contact (C&C) Chapters or looking for speakers to present to your Chapter, we are in the process of developing one click access to submit your information online. Until this is up, you may email your Name/Chapter/Business/Title/Email/Topic to your Chapter's Speaker Organizer or Billie Willis at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

*If you have already given your information to your Chapter Organizer or Billie, you DO NOT need to submit it again.*

External Speakers Bureau (ESB):

There will be two different pathways you can follow to be accepted as a speaker in the bureau. If you have previously auditioned and received notice of approval, you DO NOT need to repeat this process.

1. The first pathway is the original one:

The Audition Process—You'll need to prepare a ten-minute speech on a topic of your choice to be given before a panel of three judges. The judges will evaluate you on your speaking presence and poise, the effectiveness of your presentation and whether they would be willing to pay a nominal amount to hear you speak. Judges evaluate on a pass/fail basis and give you some feedback with a few comments on your presentation.

You must get a pass from two out of the three judges to participate in the External Speakers Bureau.

2. The second pathway is offered in an effort to accommodate more members in participating in the ESB:

Evaluation Process—This option places the responsibility on the speaker and takes her experience into account.

Speaker's responsibility:

- Give your 10 minute talk to your home chapter and 3 other Coffee & Contacts chapters.

- Copy External Speaker application forms.

- Fill out the top of 3 copies and give the 3 copies to the lead organizer of the chapter to which you are giving your talk along with a stamped

envelope addressed to: Phran Gacher, 842 Oakwater Dr, Garner NC 27529.

- Keep your own record of:

  • Your home chapter
  • The chapters at which you spoke
  • The date of the talk
  • Topic of your talk
  • To whom you handed the forms.

- Mail your completed record of your 4 talks to: Phran Gacher, 842 Oakwater Dr, Garner NC 27529.
